Bio

Founded by Randy Owen and cousins Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook, Alabama is one of America's most beloved country music bands. In 1969, the group first operated as Wildcountry, touring bar circuits in the South and writing original songs. After changing their name to Alabama in 1977, they caught the eye of RCA Nashville and achieved unprecedented chart success, scoring over 27 number one hits, seven platinum albums, and an array of awards. In the '80s, their top tracks included "Tennessee River", "Love in the First Degree", "Mountain Music", "Dixieland Delight", and "If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band)". Despite a slight dip in popularity in the '90s, the band still sold millions of records, eventually earning them the title of most successful country music band in history.

From their traditional country sound mixed with Southern rock, bluegrass, folk, and pop elements, to their lighting and set production inspired by rock concerts, Alabama created a style that resonated with fans worldwide and continues to influence country music today. The group was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2019, becoming the first ever recipients of the Life Time Achievement Award. With over 41 number one singles on the Billboard charts and 75 million records sold, it's no wonder Alabama is one of country music's all-time greats.
