Bio

Daniel Sprong is a Dutch professional ice hockey forward currently signed to the Seattle Kraken of the NHL. Beginning his career with the Charlottetown Islanders of the QMJHL, the Pittsburgh Penguins selected him with the 46th pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. However, he returned to the QMJHL for two more years before eventually joining the Penguins in 2017. After parts of four seasons with Pittsburgh and their AHL affiliate, Sprong was traded to the Anaheim Ducks in 2018 and later the Washington Capitals in 2020. Finally, in 2022, he arrived at the Kraken. Born in the Netherlands, Sprong immigrated to Canada with his family in 2005 to pursue his passion for hockey. Though a Dutch citizen, he has declined to play international hockey for the Netherlands in preference of the Canadian national team.
