Bio

Diamond Rio is an esteemed American country music band that first formed in 1982. Known as the Grizzly River Boys and then Tennessee River Boys, the group was created by Matt Davenport, Danny Gregg, and Ty Herndon. Since 1989 the same six members have remained with the band - Marty Roe (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Gene Johnson (mandolin, guitar, fiddle, tenor vocals), Jimmy Olander (lead guitar, banjo), Brian Prout (drums), Dan Truman (keyboards), and Dana Williams (bass guitar, baritone vocals). Diamond Rio made history in 1991 when their debut single "Meet in the Middle" rose to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. 32 more singles followed, four of which also topped the country music list. The band has released nine studio albums, four compilations, and an album of Christmas music. They have earned three platinum records and won a Grammy, four Country Music Association Group of the Year awards, and two Top Vocal Group awards from the Academy of Country Music. Throughout their career, Diamond Rio has showcased harmonious vocals, diverse instrumentation, and all-in-house recording practices instead of using session musicians. Their sound includes mainstream country, bluegrass, rock, Christian country music, and country pop.
