Jessica Ellen Cornish, known professionally as Jessie J, is an English singer and acclaimed performer. Raised in London, she began her career on stage at age 11 in the West End musical Whistle Down the Wind. Later, Jessie J signed a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and a recording contract with Republic Records. Her debut single "Do It Like a Dude" marked the start of a remarkable journey - the single topped charts in 19 countries and was followed by her debut album Who You Are, which peaked at number two in the UK. This feat made Jessie J the first British female artist to have six top-ten singles from one studio album. Other noteworthy accomplishments include performing at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert, the 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony and selling over 20 million singles and 3 million albums worldwide. Her music style is admired for its soulful vocals combined with contemporary R&B, pop, electropop, and hip-hop beats. Jessie J has also won several accolades, including the 2011 Critics' Choice Brit Award and the BBC's Sound of 2011.
