Bio
Rick Derringer has been a prominent figure in the music industry since the 1960s, having achieved fame as a founding member of the McCoys, whose debut single "Hang on Sloopy" skyrocketed to number one in 1965 and remains a staple of the garage rock era. Derringer then went on to enjoy seven chart-making singles with the McCoys, including covers of "Fever" and "Come on Let's Go". In 1974 he scored his own US top 30 hit, “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo”, and has since then gone on to produce or feature in the works of a great many artists, from The Winter Brothers (including the iconic "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride" of 1973) to Steely Dan, Cyndi Lauper and "Weird Al" Yankovic. It was with the latter that Derringer earned two of his Grammy Awards, producing the hits songs "Eat It" (1984) and "Fat" (1988). His other works include producing the soundtracks for the World Wrestling Federation's albums The Wrestling Album (1985) and Piledriver: The Wrestling Album II (1987), which included the entrance themes for Hulk Hogan and the Demolition tag team, and various songs featured in the 1984 Tom Hanks movie Bachelor Party.
